Antique Washbasin Johnson & Brothers Petite
A rare and elegant antique washbasin by Johnson & Brothers Hanley, crafted in bright white ceramic and bearing the original heraldic factory mark reading Johnson Brothers Hanley Limited – England. This is an unusually small model — refined in proportion and increasingly hard to find in this compact size.
Origin & Dating
The stamp with the royal coat of arms was used primarily in the early 20th century, approximately 1910–1930. Johnson Brothers, based in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, became internationally renowned for high-quality ceramic production. While best known for tableware exported across Europe and the British Empire, the company also produced sanitary ware during this period, maintaining the same standard of durability and refined glazing.
Many of these compact basins were exported to continental Europe and installed in hotels, guesthouses, and smaller urban residences.
