Antique Marblee Sink
An exceptionally small antique wall-mounted sink dating from around 1900, most likely produced by the English manufacturer Johnson & Brothers. These compact wash basins were mainly made for the Northern Dutch market, where small lavatories and service spaces required practical yet elegant sanitary solutions.
What makes this basin truly remarkable is its delicate hand-applied marble decoration. The soft grey-blue marbling was painted underneath the glaze by hand, giving the piece a depth and character that modern reproductions rarely achieve. The subtle marble effect almost resembles natural stone and works beautifully in both historic interiors and more understated contemporary spaces.
With its extremely compact dimensions of only 28 cm wide and 21 cm deep, this is a rare and highly decorative model, ideal for a cloakroom, powder room or small bathroom project where space is limited but atmosphere matters.
The basin is in very good antique condition with no cracks or crazing. It does show an original firing flaw on the front and some gentle wear along the edges, most likely caused by decades of practical use with buckets or basins placed against it. These traces of age only add to its authenticity and charm.
A small but characterful survivor from the early twentieth century, ready for a second life.
