Antique Corner Basin – Sphinx
This rare antique corner basin by Sphinx is the smallest porcelain corner model ever produced. A true gem of craftsmanship, featuring an elegant shape with a gently curved rim that guides the water back towards the waste – a refined detail typical of the exceptional quality of early 20th-century sanitary ware.
Dating from around 1915, its graceful detailing clearly reflects the Edwardian era. Later versions from the 1920s and 1930s were made in a slightly simpler style, but this early model still carries the rich decorative finish of its time. Its compact size makes it especially suitable for small cloakrooms or powder rooms, where it serves not only a practical purpose but also adds a touch of authentic character.
Measuring 22.5 cm from the corner and 27 cm diagonally, it is a miniature porcelain masterpiece. Ideally paired with a traditional wall-mounted tap to complete its historical charm.
A unique find for collectors and enthusiasts of authentic early 20th-century English sanitary ware – and a piece you are unlikely to see again.
